About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of multi-million-dollar supply-based tooling, including design reviews, construction, and financial management for stamping commodities.
- Lead cost validation, tooling lead time estimation, and provide budgetary guidance for tooling concepts.
- Conduct design and process reviews, providing DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) feedback.
- Coordinate with suppliers to support quoting for various tooling components and conduct on-site visits to assess capability and refurbishment needs.
- Oversee capital appropriation, including identifying tooling projects and managing quarterly capital spend tracking.
- Coordinate domestic and international tooling shipments with 3rd party logistics partners and manage commercial documentation.
- Report on monthly and YTD metrics regarding purchase orders, spend, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Maintain daily communication with suppliers regarding tooling schedules, progress, and completion updates.
- Review and approve tooling-related invoices and collaborate with Finance to monitor spend and forecasts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of supply chain, engineering, or manufacturing experience with at least 1 year of lead experience.
- OR Master's degree and 3 years of supply chain, engineering, or manufacturing experience with at least 1 year of lead experience.
- OR 8 years of supply chain, engineering, or manufacturing experience with at least 1 year of lead experience.
- Must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis to be employed in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical experience in design, build, or engineering with stamping dies.
- Proven experience in tooling, procurement, or supply chain roles within the automotive sector.
- Strong project management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Familiarity with tooling design principles (DFM/DFA) and capital appropriation processes.
