Tool and Die Maker

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair production equipment, tooling, and dies to ensure proper functionality.
• Set up and operate machine tools including engine lathes, grinders, mills, and hones.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule.
• Interpret blueprints, machinist drawings, and work orders to create sketches or determine dimensions.
• Machine parts to precise requirements of tolerance and finish, working to tolerances as tight as ± .000050.
• Perform dismantling, fitting, and assembly work required for equipment maintenance.
• Complete detailed work order documentation and maintain accurate logbooks.
• Comply with all job safety practices, food safety guidelines, and company policies.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience in tooling fabrication and die assembly for high-speed or conversion presses.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, telescope gauges, and dial indicators.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and machinist drawings.
• Skilled in operating engine lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and other machine shop equipment.
• Knowledge of welding and oxy-acetylene torch operation.
• Proficiency in basic math, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Ability to operate a computer for functional use.
