About the role
Responsibilities
- Plan, construct, and repair a wide variety of tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges to close tolerances.
- Perform development work, layout, and complex tool room machine operations, including fitting and adjusting.
- Dismantle, repair, and replace parts of damaged dies and fixtures, ensuring proper operation through testing.
- Verify conformance of new or repaired dies by checking dimensions, cutting clearances, forms, and alignments.
- Operate cranes safely to relocate dies to specific work stations or equipment.
- Establish and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program to ensure all tools are fit for use.
- Prepare sketches for machining tool details and perform layout inspections of tooling and manufactured components.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement processes and adhere to 5S discipline principles.
- Maintain a safe and clean workplace in compliance with established safety practices and company policy.
Requirements
- Recognized technical trade certificate as a Tool & Die Maker or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in reading and working with blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of workshop theory and calculations.
- Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Competence in all Tool Room machining to close tolerances.
- Ability to work with varied ranges of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Capability to work with limited guidance and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to estimate resolution timelines.
