Tool and Die Machinist

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, EDM, shapers, and grinders
• Analyze specifications and determine tooling by applying knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics
• Study blueprints and layouts to visualize required machining and plan the sequence of operations
• Position and secure workpieces using various holding devices, clamps, and wrenches
• Set specified feeds, speeds, and depths of cut to machine metal workpieces according to precise specifications
• Verify conformance of machined parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and CMM
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines as required for TPM
• Conduct tests and inspections to evaluate product quality and performance
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 years of related experience and training
• Proficiency in shop mathematics, including the ability to work with fractions, proportions, and decimals
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, diagrams, and technical manuals
• Experience using measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers to meet drawing dimensions
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet production deadlines
• Good verbal and written communication skills
