Toddler Guide

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with a lead guide to plan and prepare the environment using Montessori and RIE principles
• Manage the physical care of children, including diapering and toileting, using respectful techniques
• Ensure visual supervision, child safety, and adherence to all licensing guidelines and classroom standards
• Observe and document child development regularly to prepare and maintain the learning environment
• Provide appropriate communication, developmental reports, and feedback to parents
• Model pro-social behavior and use positive discipline strategies to redirect children
• Collaborate with co-teachers to discuss observations, curriculum planning, and environmental design
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment

Requirements

• 3 years of experience working in an early childhood setting
• Strong knowledge of child development and Montessori/RIE caregiving techniques
• Skilled in observation techniques and documentation
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to lift, move, or hold children up to 60 pounds and perform physical tasks such as kneeling, crouching, or crawling

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
• MACTE accredited Montessori certification
• 5+ years of experience in a Montessori infant/toddler environment
• Knowledge of Positive Discipline strategies
• Fluency in languages other than English
