Third Assistant Engineer

Responsibilities

• Handle engine department watch standing duties, including the supervision and control of vessel machinery and equipment
• Oversee the loading of engine department stores, bunkers, and water
• Ensure all engine room personnel comply with PPE requirements and safety instructions
• Supervise and assist unlicensed personnel, such as machinists and utility workers
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
• Conduct inspections to determine requirements for preventative maintenance
• Execute marine-related duties in accordance with STCW, ISM, ISPS, and Chevron operational procedures
• Participate in company safety programs, including Behavior Based Safety and Job Safety Analysis

Requirements

• USCG Third Assistant Engineer License (Motor vessels of any horsepower)
• One year of service as a licensed engineer on vessels requiring unlimited horsepower
• Merchant Mariners Document
• Advanced Firefighting Certificate
• Basic Safety Training
• VPDSD and Tankerman endorsement
• Valid Passport and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
• Working knowledge of USCG and international regulations (MARPOL, SOLAS, and ISGOTT)
