About the role

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor high-pressure boilers, turbo-alternator units, and auxiliary systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Recognize abnormalities, inefficiencies, or hazards and perform troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Execute work protection code (WPC) activities and act as a controlling/issuing authority for assigned equipment when required.
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team, including firefighting, confined space rescue, and chemical spill response.
  • Plan and execute unit start-ups, including performing all necessary pre-start equipment and system checks.
  • Conduct measurements, system testing, and inspections to ensure compliance with station procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain documentation, prepare reports, and use light hand tools for minor maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid 3rd Class Operating Engineer (OE) Certificate in the province of Ontario.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days and nights.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates holding or pursuing a 2nd or 1st Class Operating Engineer (OE) Certificate.
