Thermal Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the thermal architecture and design for high-power-density systems from first-principles analysis through validation
• Lead air-cooling and heat-sink design using technologies like extruded, skived, bonded-fin, vapor chambers, and heat pipes
• Use CFD and thermal FEA paired with hand calculations and test correlation to support designs
• Select, characterize, and test fans and pumps, focusing on performance, reliability, and NVH behavior
• Apply vapor-compression and liquid-loop cooling where necessary
• Develop thermal designs in CAD and collaborate with mechanical engineers for hardware integration
• Build test setups to characterize thermal performance and acoustics

Requirements

• 4+ years in thermal design for electronics or thermally demanding systems
• Expert-level command of heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation)
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics and psychrometrics
• Deep familiarity with heat-sink technologies
• Proficiency with CFD and thermal FEA
• Working knowledge of vapor-compression refrigeration
• Hands-on experience testing fans and pumps, including NVH behavior
• CAD proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with acoustic/NVH measurement and mitigation
• Experience designing liquid cooling loops (cold plates, pumps, heat exchangers)
• Experience with high-heat-flux electronics cooling
• Experience taking thermal designs from concept through production
• Familiarity with test data infrastructure and sensor implementation
