About the role
Responsibilities
- Work with the engineering team to design, analyze, build, and test satellite hardware and software
- Perform thermal analysis of varying fidelity on components such as propulsion, batteries, electronics, and PCBs
- Design, evaluate, procure, and test thermal solutions including heaters, heat pipes, and surface coatings
- Support design trades to balance performance margins, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule
- Develop processes for integration and assembly to ensure thermal design intent is met
- Plan and execute thermal vacuum testing and verification at the component and spacecraft level
Requirements
- Four-year degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent technical degree (e.g., physics or applied math)
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch
- Passion for hands-on hardware development in a fast-paced environment
- U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status required due to export regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD software
- Experience with analytical thermal analysis software such as ANSYS or Thermal Desktop
- Experience with electronics systems design and packaging
- Previous internship or project experience related to aerospace
