Test Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance and maintenance testing of electrical equipment ranging from 600v to 500kV
• Install, commission, and maintain protection and control equipment, including SCADA in medium to high-voltage transmission substations
• Interpret prints, analyze test reports, and recommend corrective actions
• Work with high voltage equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, switches, and control circuits
• Supervise, mentor, and train junior technicians and apprentices
• Operate various manufacturer test equipment including Omicron, Doble, MEGGER, and Dilo SF6 testers
• Maintain a safe working environment alongside construction crews

Requirements

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 4+ years of experience in Field Testing and Commissioning
• Proven experience in substations (600v to 500kV)
• Experience with relay testing using various equipment and software
• Familiarity with power transformers, high voltage switches, breakers, CTs, PTs, NGR, and Capbanks
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and a willingness to work out of town on rotation
