Test Chip Designer

Responsibilities

• Define test chip architecture, floorplan, and silicon experiment plans to characterize standard cell libraries and memory compilers
• Design on-chip test structures including ring oscillators, delay chains, and SRAM BIST/MBIST blocks
• Own full physical implementation including synthesis, floorplanning, place and route, and timing closure
• Run signoff flows such as STA, parasitic extraction, EM/IR, and physical verification
• Develop ATE test programs and bench characterization setups
• Lead first silicon bring-up, debug, and validate functionality in the lab
• Analyze silicon measurements against pre-silicon models and author formal silicon reports
• Manage test chip schedules, budgets, and risk registers

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• 5+ years of industry experience in digital/mixed-signal IC design
• Experience taking at least one full test chip from concept through silicon report
• Expertise in digital implementation flows (synthesis, P&R, CTS, STA, DRC/LVS)
• Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools
• Experience with DFT methodologies (scan, MBIST, JTAG)
• Strong scripting skills in TCL, Python, or Perl
• Experience developing ATE test programs or bench characterization setups

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with advanced process nodes (7nm, 5nm, 3nm and below)
• Background working with multiple foundries and PDKs
• Experience correlating silicon measurements to SPICE and aging models
• Prior leadership of multi-engineer test chip programs
