Test Bay Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare for testing by selecting correct procedures, instrumentation, and configurations based on pump specifications.
• Verify the calibration status of all measuring devices prior to test runs.
• Execute performance tests following approved standards such as ISO 9906 or API 610.
• Control pump operations via the Test Control Panel and conduct tests at incremental flow points.
• Record critical data including flow head, power, vibration, and temperature.
• Monitor equipment for leaks, abnormal noise, or vibrations during operation.
• Capture and review test data electronically using computerized acquisition software.
• Generate performance curves and compare results against design specifications to determine pass/fail criteria.
• Execute proper shutdown sequences and produce official test reports with performance summaries.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Requirements

• Matric, N4, or Qualified Artisan status.
• 1-2 years of experience in a mechanical workshop, test bay, or industrial environment.
• Basic safety training including LOTO, PPE, and induction.
• Practical exposure to pumps, motors, or rotating equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• N2/N3 in Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of hydraulics or fluid dynamics.
