About the role

Responsibilities

  • Author comprehensive test plans defining scope, methodology, and success criteria for off-road autonomous systems
  • Design and develop physical test benches and automated testers to support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation
  • Program and execute automated tests within simulation environments such as CARLA or proprietary simulators
  • Instrument autonomous vehicles with high-precision sensors and data acquisition (DAQ) equipment for field testing
  • Develop custom analysis tools in Python and C++ to parse datasets, identify anomalies, and troubleshoot system issues
  • Author formal reports using field data and technical evidence to articulate program risks and safety posture
  • Collaborate with project, hardware, and software teams to verify deliverables and ensure quality standards

Requirements

  • Excellent technical writing skills with focus on reproducible test plans and formal validation reports
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or C++) for data analysis and tool development
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and vehicle sensors
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools (e.g., Git), CAD packages (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360), and project management software (e.g., JIRA, Costpoint)
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate across disciplines and mitigate system-level risks
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, Systems, or Software Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with autonomous vehicles or robotics
  • Experience building automated test equipment (ATE) or HIL test environments
  • Experience with robotics simulation environments and automated regression testing
  • Familiarity with USG Systems Engineering Processes and Military Standards (e.g., MIL-STD-882E)
  • Ability to translate complex technical failures into documented programmatic risks
