Temporary Lodging Assistant (Social Service Assistant)

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 supervision of children in temporary lodging or in-home settings to support family reunification
• Transport children to medical/dental appointments, school, and other necessary destinations
• Maintain care for children regarding hygiene, basic needs, and school attendance
• Support in-home safety plans by providing detailed documentation and reporting concerns promptly
• Maintain accurate observation and supervision notes and prepare documentation for court testimony
• Utilize a trauma-informed approach to de-escalate aggressive or hostile behavior and maintain a safe environment

Requirements

• One year of experience working in a human services or behavioral health setting, OR an associate degree in any field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Valid driver's license and the ability to drive during scheduled work hours
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts
• Experience using trauma-informed approaches to support individuals in crisis

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience making emergency decisions regarding immediate child safety
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care for families
