Telecommunications Technician

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate the installation, configuration, networking, and technical support of diverse telecommunications systems and network infrastructure.
• Execute telecom network circuit provisioning, fault isolation, and resolution.
• Perform installation, relocation, and modification of system hardware and assist in restoring service during outages.
• Utilize advanced test equipment including Ethernet testers, RF power meters, OTDRs, and T1/DS3 test sets.
• Maintain and repair Aviat MW Radio systems, Motorola 800 Radio systems, and Ciena/Nokia/Adtran Fiber Transport equipment.
• Supervise crew members, provide clear instructions, and train team members as needed.
• Remain available for after-hour call outs to address emergencies, storms, or outages.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in telecommunications (specifically in domains such as two-way radio, fiber optics, microwave radio, or IP networking).
• Successful completion of the EEI TECH test is required.
• Proficiency in IP networking, including ISIS, BGP, and MPLS-TE routing protocols.
• Strong foundation in electronic circuitry, PTP (Precision Time Protocol), and SYNC-E Timing.
• Valid Class D driver's license and a TWIC card.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in varied and demanding work settings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Mesh Network Technologies and AMI/DA systems.
• Operational knowledge of Ciena 10X Transport equipment.
• Two-year degree in Electronics Technology or a closely related field.
