Telecommunications Installation Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, modification, testing, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on electronic systems supporting the National Airspace System (NAS)
• Install, relocate, and remove equipment including navigation aids (NAVAIDS), communications systems (VHF/UHF), and surveillance systems
• Troubleshoot and repair systems to the unit, board, or module level using standard test equipment such as digital multimeters, signal generators, and oscilloscopes
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnect drawings, and technical manuals
• Assist with field installations, including routing, terminating, and testing cables (coax, fiber, copper)
• Document all work activities, including maintenance logs, service tickets, and test results in accordance with FAA requirements
• Comply with all safety, security, and quality practices, including OSHA regulations and site-specific Risk Management Plans

Requirements

• High school diploma
• 5+ years of working knowledge of analog and digital electronics
• Strong understanding of RF and communications equipment fundamentals
• Proficiency with standard electronic test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, signal generators)
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
• Ability to travel up to 100% within the USA
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical movements such as bending and standing
• Ability to meet customer security requirements, including a federal background check
