Techno-Economic Product Manager

Responsibilities

• Own, build and maintain detailed cost and application-level performance models for utility-scale BESS
• Act as a key customer for cell and system level performance models
• Analyze product competitiveness by benchmarking against competitors and emerging technologies
• Support product roadmap decisions by identifying market-driven design trade-offs
• Translate energy storage market needs into technical product requirements
• Conduct techno-economic assessments including TCO, LCOS, and payback periods
• Inform performance guarantees and product warranties
• Monitor energy markets like CAISO and ERCOT to identify product-market fit
• Provide technical insights for go-to-market strategies and RFP responses
• Collaborate with finance, regulatory, and commercial teams

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Applied Physics, Energy Systems, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience in energy storage, power systems, renewables, or grid-connected products
• Proficiency in Python, R, MATLAB, or Excel-based modeling
• Strong understanding of BESS architecture and system integration
• Experience translating market needs into product architecture
• Familiarity with wholesale electricity markets and grid service use cases

Preferred Qualifications

• Energy management system development experience
• Familiarity with US diurnal energy markets and policies
• Exposure to product management, product marketing, or technical sales support
