Technician/Building Technologist

Responsibilities

• Review design and construction documents
• Investigate and document existing conditions at project sites
• Perform non-destructive and destructive testing
• Research code requirements, industry standards, and manufacturer’s requirements
• Prepare detailed reports of site visit activities
• Study existing building conditions and identify non-compliance within components and systems
• Attend construction meetings to assist with technical questions and review work quality
• Prepare field reports and checklists of components, systems, or test procedures
• Inspect construction for conformance with contract documents and technical specifications

Requirements

• Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel
• Basic understanding of commercial construction
• Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, construction management, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architectural engineering, or related disciplines
• Ability to document and sketch conditions observed by hand or digitally
• Ability to work outdoors for up to 8 hours at a time, including on ladders, scaffolding, and roofs

Preferred Qualifications

• Emphasis in construction within degree program
• Trade or military background
• Three years of relevant work experience with residential and/or commercial construction
