About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial, in-process, and final testing on large electric motors, including insulation quality, power factor, and winding resistance.
  • Conduct specialized analysis including rotor hotspot, vibration, and no-load/full-load run tests.
  • Provide quality control for refurbished and repaired motors to ensure high standards.
  • Assist engineering teams with technical support and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and upgrade testing software and equipment for daily use.
  • Document all test results and communicate findings to supervisors and engineers.
  • Travel to generating plants to perform routine testing on spare motors and provide on-site support.
  • Ensure all testing complies with Class 1E nuclear program standards where applicable.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Technical degree or a minimum of four years of industry experience in electric motor repair.
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory and its application in utility settings.
  • Understanding of ANSI, IEEE, EASA, and NEMA test standards and procedures.
  • Valid driver's license and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, and standing for entire shifts.
  • Availability to work day shifts, overtime, and participate in an on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with testing electric motors and familiarity with relevant testing methodologies.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and manage multiple concurrent test activities.
