Technician Assistant

Responsibilities

• Feed and water animals daily or as specified by protocols
• Perform daily census of animals and change caging as scheduled
• Clean animal rooms daily and maintain facility cleanliness
• Assist in the routine treatment of common clinical signs
• Maintain accurate animal records and assist with breeding colony care
• Receive, transport, and distribute incoming animals following established procedures
• Operate and maintain support equipment including cage washers, autoclaves, and tunnel washers
• Monitor and report aberrations in animal room environments such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation
• Attend in-house training programs to develop expertise in laboratory animal science

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• Technical training or approximately six months of related experience
• Ability to regularly lift at least 25 pounds and frequently move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Availability to work a Thursday through Monday schedule, including mandatory rotating weekend and holiday coverage
• Ability to work in an environment with exposure to laboratory animals, latex, waste products, and sanitation solutions
