About the role
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality animal husbandry in a regulated research environment, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animal health.
- Maintain accurate and compliant records regarding breeding, health, and agistment in line with Animal Ethics Committee standards.
- Support research activities by preparing equipment and consumables and assisting with minor procedures.
- Ensure strict adherence to sterilization, biosecurity, hygiene, and waste disposal protocols within containment facilities.
Requirements
- Certificate in Animal Technology (or equivalent) and/or relevant experience in an animal research or laboratory facility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of animal husbandry practices and welfare standards, including the Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Effective communication skills and a proactive approach to supporting researchers and staff.
- Ability to work in a physically active role within containment environments and follow strict safety protocols.
- Possession of a current National Police Clearance and a "C" class driver’s licence.
- Availability to perform rostered after-hours work.
