Technical Writer

Responsibilities

• Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for audio/video systems, including routing matrices, signal flow diagrams, and patch lists
• Develop operationally focused runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials for show control systems
• Partner with systems engineers and production technology teams to validate configurations and ensure documentation accuracy
• Collaborate with show control programmers and A/V integrators to document system behaviors and operational workflows
• Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides across the technology organization
• Manage the documentation lifecycle, including version control and change tracking across system evolutions

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical writing experience in professional AV, broadcast, live entertainment, or studio production environments
• Proven expertise documenting complex audio/video systems and delivery specifications
• Familiarity with industry standards such as SMPTE, AES, or IEEE
• Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to tailor content for both operators and engineers
• Ability to synthesize complex technical information for senior leadership audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting studio production, media engineering, or cloud-based production systems
• Working knowledge of IT and networking fundamentals, particularly AV-over-IP and media infrastructure
• Familiarity with digital media formats and packaging standards (e.g., IMF, DCP, QuickTime)
• Experience documenting end-to-end media production workflows
