Technical Welding Associate

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers and trades people to support oil and gas infrastructure projects
• Interpret regulatory requirements, codes, and customer specifications for fabrication and welding
• Monitor welding parameters and write procedure qualification records
• Prepare in-house work orders and maintain sample traceability
• Conduct welder performance qualification testing
• Assist clients with welding process implementation
• Perform routine maintenance on welding machines and shop upkeep
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality improvement efforts

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology
• Strong working knowledge of ASME Section IX, Section VIII Div. 1, B31.1, B31.3, and CSA Z662
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Valid Class 5 driver's license
• Ability to travel throughout Canada and the United States
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Welding Examiner Certificate of Competency issued by ABSA
• CSA W178.2 Level 1 Welding Inspector Certificate of Compliance
• Eligibility to register for T.T., C.E.T., or E.I.T. status
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems for piping and pressure vessels
• Familiarity with API, NACE, and AWS codes and standards
