Technical Service/Application Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Visit customers to introduce products and provide technical solutions to support product development
• Develop product specifications by analyzing market information and material feasibility
• Provide technical support through the creation of process guides and application of plastic/extrusion expertise
• Investigate customer needs and provide actionable technical solutions and product recommendations
• Develop and recommend innovative projects based on market research and material studies
• Conduct in-person or virtual seminars to train and support customers
• Plan and manage product testing with internal or external laboratories
• Prepare technical reports and written materials to support product introduction and data evaluation

Requirements

• Bachelor or advanced degree in polymer fields, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in material development at a plastic manufacturer (polymerization or compounding)
• 5+ years of experience in material development or approval at an OEM or Tier 1 (Automotive, Home Appliances, or Consumer Products)
• 5+ years of experience in the injection or processing of thermoplastics
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in technical service at a plastic compounder or plastic analysis
• Experience with plastic post-processing (paint, metal plating, etc.)
• Knowledge of SAP (ERP) systems
