About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform site assessments, load calculations, and system evaluations to recommend optimal HVAC equipment and designs.
  • Prepare professional sales proposals, equipment selections, specifications, and submittals.
  • Deliver technical presentations, product trainings, and lunch-and-learn sessions to engineers and contractors.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and qualification through negotiation and closing.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with mechanical contractors, engineering firms, and facility owners.
  • Collaborate with internal applications engineering, project management, and service teams to ensure project success.
  • Track opportunities and customer interactions accurately within the CRM.
  • Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets and gross profit goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field (significant industry experience may substitute).
  • 3–8+ years of technical sales experience in HVAC equipment or related building mechanical products.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC fundamentals, including psychrometrics, hydronics, airflow, and controls.
  • Proficiency with HVAC selection and design software.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and control sequences.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical details for non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing network and relationships with local engineers and contractors.
  • Certification with a relevant HVAC industry body (e.g., APER).
  • Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), DDC controls, and IAQ solutions.
