About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-frequency ocean radar systems (WERA and CODAR SeaSonde).
  • Perform hands-on field work, including systematic fault-finding and preventative maintenance to ensure reliable data delivery.
  • Collaborate with researchers, site caretakers, contractors, and suppliers to support a distributed marine observing network.
  • Manage technical documentation and reporting related to system performance and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Practical experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic, RF, telecommunications, or field-based technical systems.
  • Proficiency in using test equipment relevant to electronic or RF systems.
  • Possession of a valid "C" class driver's licence.
  • Ability to undertake frequent domestic travel within Australia and international travel (USA and Germany) for training.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborative teamwork.
