Technical Manager - Software Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct a team of 15-25 software engineers to develop complex embedded engineering solutions for defense and space domains.
• Provide technical guidance, leadership, and oversight to subordinate engineers throughout the full software development lifecycle.
• Manage technical execution, staffing, and departmental budgets, including training and equipment requirements.
• Implement software technical strategies and establish short-term operational plans with measurable results.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Program Management to provide input for strategic and R&D planning.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews while observing Agile software development processes.
• Drive innovative solutions and resolve technical challenges to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of related experience, including substantial embedded software background.
• 3 years of experience in management and leadership, including performance appraisals and staffing allocation.
• 5 years of experience with Agile/Scrum, Agile/SAFe, Waterfall, or TDD methodologies.
• 5 years of experience with DevOps and leading teams to leverage CI/CD pipelines.
• 8 years of experience leading software development through design, coding, integration, deployment, and sustainment.
• US Citizenship is required to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Lead Software Engineer or Subject Matter Expert on product development efforts.
• Proficiency in OOD, UML, C/C++, Java, and Web Development.
• Experience with Cloud development (Containers, IaaS, SaaS, PaaS) and high-availability Enterprise Software Systems.
• Experience with ground-based command, control, and communications for space-based systems.
• Certified Scrum Master, Product Owner, Release Train Engineer, or Coach.
• Knowledge of EVMS and prior experience with Control Account Management (CAM).
