Technical Lead - Operational Data Governance & Modernization

Responsibilities

• Own the delivery of relational and canonical data models and the organization's Master Data Management (MDM) strategy.
• Set standards for advanced SQL usage and appropriate NoSQL patterns.
• Define schema-first data contract designs using JSON Schema, Avro, or Protobuf.
• Drive the rollout of the data catalog and enforce PII classification and regulatory compliance.
• Lead the delivery of the Snowflake enterprise data warehouse and data pipelines between ODS and the warehouse.
• Implement data change detection (CDC) and data validation/quality testing frameworks.
• Manage "contract as code" governance via CI/CD and Git-based data governance.
• Select and implement appropriate AWS data services for the platform.
• Manage day-to-day delivery of an offshore engineering team, including sprint commitments and code reviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3+ years in a technical lead role.
• Deep expertise in relational and canonical data modeling and MDM design.
• Expert-level SQL skills and experience with Snowflake or equivalent enterprise data warehouses.
• Proven experience designing schema-first data contracts (JSON Schema, Avro, or Protobuf).
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services (e.g., RDS, Redshift, Glue, DMS, Lake Formation).
• Experience implementing CI/CD for schema management and Git-based governance.
• Strong ability to manage offshore teams and communicate with stakeholders.
• Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data catalog tools such as Collibra, Alation, or AWS Glue Data Catalog.
• Experience building data-quality frameworks using tools like Great Expectations or dbt.
• Relevant certifications such as Snowflake SnowPro or AWS Data Analytics Specialty.
