About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own the delivery of enterprise API design standards using OpenAPI 3.0/REST, including versioning, lifecycle, and governance.
  • Drive the rollout of API Gateway patterns and Mulesoft Anypoint Platform usage and topology.
  • Set the strategy for contract testing and API lifecycle management across producing and consuming teams.
  • Manage API security delivery for internal and external-facing APIs, including authN/authZ, rate limiting, and threat protection.
  • Drive the delivery of event-driven infrastructure, including topic/queue design and Kafka, EventBridge, SNS, or MSK topology.
  • Define schema registry standards using Avro or Protobuf for event and API contracts.
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of the offshore development team, including sprint commitments, code reviews, and unblocking critical-path integrations.
  • Report delivery status, risks, and blockers to engineering leadership.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in integration and API engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role owning end-to-end delivery.
  • Expert-level proficiency in API design using OpenAPI 3.0/REST.
  • Hands-on architecture experience with the Mulesoft Anypoint Platform.
  • Deep knowledge of API Gateway patterns and API lifecycle management at scale.
  • Proven experience with event-driven infrastructure (Kafka, EventBridge, SNS, or MSK) in a production environment.
  • Strong API security expertise, including OAuth2, JWT, and threat mitigation.
  • Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
  • Ability to manage offshore teams through standups, sprint accountability, and technical guidance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience architecting workflow automation with BPMN 2.0 and Camunda.
  • Experience with rules engines such as Drools.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Mulesoft Certified Architect or Confluent Kafka certifications.
