Technical Director

Responsibilities

• Oversee the set-up, dismantling, and operation of equipment including camera, audio, video, and lighting
• Direct assigned newscasts by performing switching and completing pre-production tasks
• Ensure smooth operation of technical equipment and services during live broadcasts
• Troubleshoot technical problems during production or live broadcasts
• Monitor the status of all live shots and content prior to air
• Collaborate with news departments, directors, producers, and promotions to achieve the desired on-air look

Requirements

• Associates degree in a related discipline or equivalent professional experience
• 2+ years of experience in a related field
• Working knowledge of television station production equipment
• Familiarity with audio, switching, digital effects, camera operation, shot composition, lighting, and character generators
• Ability to handle multiple priorities under extreme time constraints with poise
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Flexibility to work various hours, including holidays, weekends, evenings, and overtime

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized training or industry-specific certifications
• Experience with news automation systems
