About the role
Responsibilities
- Organize stage management for the Schuster Theatre performance season, including mentoring and supervising student stage managers and assistants
- Supervise and collaborate with faculty, students, and guest designers
- Secure sound and lighting technicians for all performances
- Manage house operations and other production-related functions
- Organize and maintain a working inventory of technical properties, including lighting, sound, and scenic shop equipment
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director and Arts Manager to assign production roles and manage technical/design needs
- Train and supervise student workers on scenic/technical equipment and safety precautions
- Oversee scenic building processes in accordance with safety protocols and sign off on safety inspections
Requirements
- Master’s degree in technical theatre (stage management, lighting design, or sound design)
- Professional theatre experience
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and use power tools
- Ability to adhere to strict safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of higher education experience
- Demonstrated strength in effective student supervision and leadership skills
- Strong collegiality and a commitment to a collaborative process
