Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy for AI Safety by determining research directions and building mitigation technologies
• Lead a high-performing R&D team through intentional hiring, mentorship, and technical excellence
• Drive academic impact by guiding complex machine learning projects and securing top-tier publications
• Shape market-leading offerings for frontier labs and security institutes
• Oversee technical delivery of AI safety and security projects, ensuring scientific rigor
• Represent Faculty externally as a primary technical voice and thought leader
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align research investment with strategic growth

Requirements

• Proven track record of designing and leading high-performing technical teams
• Deep expertise in AI safety research (alignment, interpretability, and robustness in LLMs)
• Strong scientific background with high-impact machine learning publications
• Comprehensive understanding of transformer architectures
• Strategic vision to set research priorities aligned with organizational goals
• Strong communication skills to influence C-suite executives and the research community
• Commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills
