Technical Community Lead

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop deep relationships with standout student leaders at leading global campuses
• Support campus leaders in planning semester strategies, recruiting members, and building sustainable engagement
• Serve as the primary point of contact between OpenAI and frontier campus chapters
• Partner with chapter leaders to design and execute exceptional events, workshops, and campus activations
• Design and refine engagement formats to help students build with OpenAI tools
• Coach and support campus leaders to grow thriving communities and forge relationship networks
• Capture insights and best practices from campuses to translate into global resources
• Surface exceptional students, projects, and community initiatives to relevant OpenAI teams
• Gather and share community feedback to inform product, education, and community strategy

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of AI tools including ChatGPT, Codex, and APIs
• Ability to help students build, debug, prototype, and apply OpenAI products in technical projects
• Personal experience building, prototyping, or shipping projects using AI tools, APIs, or agents
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships with ambitious people
• Strong project and program management skills with experience coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently and navigate ambiguity
• Strong pulse on AI-native builder culture and technical communities
• Experience designing and executing community programs, events, workshops, or ambassador programs
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with university students, campus organizations, or developer ecosystems
• Experience running hackathons, conferences, or community-driven events
• Experience translating community insights into product or marketing recommendations
• Experience creating community content, newsletters, or playbooks
• Existing relationships within leading universities or research communities
