Technical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support by setting up and troubleshooting audio-visual equipment
• Demonstrate technical procedures and provide orientation to theatre crews
• Apply pre-determined plans when building new performance sets
• Maintain equipment and supply inventory, including conducting needs assessments for renewals
• Monitor facility bookings, production requirements, and rehearsal needs
• Ensure strict adherence to occupational safety precautions and stage safety regulations
• Identify and report facility repair or maintenance needs

Requirements

• College Diploma (2 years) or an equivalent combination of experience
• Minimum of three years of production and technical theatre experience (set, lighting, or sound design)
• Demonstrated experience operating fly house theatre and rigging systems (counterweight)
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills and ability to perform minor equipment repairs
• Knowledge of stage safety procedures and health and safety regulations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Valid Working at Heights certification
• Valid Standard First Aid certification
• Excellent communication, time-management, and interpersonal skills
