About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct accessibility audits and tests on university platforms to ensure conformance with WCAG standards
- Create and implement remediation plans for digital products and platforms
- Provide expert accessibility guidance to designers, product managers, developers, and business partners
- Develop guidelines for architects and developers to aid in compliance with accessibility standards
- Train and coach colleagues on ADA awareness and implementing accessible solutions
- Use assistive technologies such as screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) to evaluate user experiences
- Research accessibility industry trends, innovations, and management strategies
- Assist in the development and maintenance of accessibility evaluation methodologies
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Assistive Technology, UX, IT, Graphic Design, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered)
- 5 years of experience in the accessibility field
- Deep knowledge of WCAG, Section 508, and ADA standards
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
- Working knowledge of mobile accessibility for both iOS and Android platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
- Experience as a UX designer, interaction designer, or information architect
- Proficiency with accessibility testing tools such as Evinced, WAVE, Axe, or Chrome DevTools
- Experience with ARIA markup and semantic HTML
