Tech Lead, Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers responsible for accessory and band product development
• Set technical direction, engineering standards, and development processes for accessory product lines
• Balance team leadership with hands-on engineering contributions, including high-fidelity CAD modeling and prototyping
• Drive mechanical architecture decisions to ensure optimal form, fit, function, durability, and manufacturability
• Work closely with Industrial Design to translate aesthetic visions into manufacturable mechanical solutions
• Lead design reviews and drive cross-functional alignment with Product, Electrical Engineering, and Operations
• Support engineering validation builds (EVT/DVT/PVT) and manufacturing ramp activities
• Partner with global Tier 1/2 suppliers to optimize materials, manufacturing processes, and costs
• Manage technical risk and ensure high-quality execution from concept through production

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience in consumer electronics or wearable hardware
• 5+ years of experience working with Tier 1 and 2 contract manufacturers in Asia and North America
• Proven track record of launching at least 3 consumer hardware products through the full development lifecycle
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks and production-level design practices
• Deep knowledge of materials and processes including plastics, elastomers, textiles, and overmolding
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a technical leadership capacity
• Ability to travel internationally (up to 20%) to visit contract manufacturers and suppliers
