Tech Lead, Mechanical Engineering (NPI)

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mechanical engineers by setting standards for engineering excellence, driving design reviews, and managing technical decision-making.
• Own and deliver mechanical architecture and critical subsystem designs for wearable products through hands-on CAD development and production drawings.
• Directly design and prototype key components, resolving technical challenges through iterative development and data-driven validation.
• Drive cross-functional alignment with Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, and Operations to support EVT/DVT/PVT builds and manufacturing ramps.
• Implement DFM/DFA strategies and partner with global suppliers to develop cost-optimized materials and manufacturing processes.
• Travel up to 20% internationally to support contract manufacturers and suppliers.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in consumer electronics, wearables, or highly integrated hardware products.
• 5+ years of experience working with Tier 1 and Tier 2 contract manufacturers in Asia and North America.
• Proven track record of launching at least 2 consumer hardware products through the full development lifecycle.
• Mastery of 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks and production-level design practices.
• Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes including plastic injection molding, metal injection molding, sheet metal, and die casting.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a technical leadership capacity.
