About the role
Responsibilities
- Interact with customers and team members to provide legendary customer service
- Support selling initiatives by engaging with customers and advising on products or services
- Operate cash registers and follow established cash handling procedures
- Perform retail tasks including merchandise recovery, freight processing, and plan-o-gram execution
- Maintain the safety and well-being of live animals, including sanitizing holding tanks
- Assist customers with loading purchases and perform general janitorial duties
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately
- Ability to lift and move merchandise or live animals weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and climb ladders for entire shifts
- Flexible availability to work varied hours, including days, nights, weekends, and overtime
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail experience
- Knowledge of pets, live animals, or pet products
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
