Team Leader - Painting

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing workshop team to meet tight event deadlines
• Allocate daily tasks and provide training to staff on standard operating procedures
• Coordinate with workshop workflow to optimize production and reduce waste
• Interpret technical and CAD drawings to guide fabrication and color matching
• Perform surface preparation including cleaning, sanding, and priming various materials
• Apply paint, enamel, varnish, and lacquers using spray guns, rollers, and brushes
• Create custom scenic finishes, faux textures, and effects
• Inspect finished surfaces for quality control and enforce strict health and safety rules
• Manage raw materials inventory and maintain painting equipment like spray booths and airbrushes

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a team leader in a professional painting environment (event, fabrication, or scenic shop preferred)
• Proven leadership and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency with spray equipment, power tools, and sanders
• Exceptional attention to detail for high-quality finishes
• Basic knowledge of ERP systems or inventory software and Microsoft Office/Excel
• Strong hands-on problem-solving ability in high-pressure situations
