Team Leader – Metals & Wet Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational leadership to the Metals & Wet Chemistry laboratory team
• Manage daily sample workflows and delegate tasks to laboratory technicians
• Oversee routine and sophisticated testing, including titrations, Karl Fischer (KF), pH, UV-Vis, and TLC
• Supervise ICP-MS and ICP-OES sample preparation and instrument operation
• Ensure all analytical procedures comply with compendial methods (USP, BP) and QA/QC requirements
• Authorise results, sign reports, and manage out-of-specification (OOS) investigations and root cause analysis
• Conduct team training, perform inductions for new members, and participate in performance reviews
• Manage consumable stock levels and prepare purchase orders
• Maintain compliance with HSE policies and participate in quality audits

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Science (preferably Chemistry)
• Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience, ideally in a pharmaceutical or analytical environment
• Demonstrated experience working with compendial methods such as USP or BP
• Strong hands-on experience with ICP-MS and/or ICP-OES
• Proficiency in wet chemistry techniques (titrations, KF, pH, UV-Vis, TLC)
• Proven leadership ability with experience supervising or mentoring staff
• Solid understanding of GMP requirements and pharmaceutical quality systems
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Computer literacy; familiarity with LIMS is an advantage
