Team Leader

Responsibilities

• Lead the Australia Pacific Leaders Program (APLP) Program Support Unit (PSU) to ensure delivery aligns with DFAT policy and strategic direction.
• Act as the senior interface and primary point of accountability for DFAT, providing actionable advice on delivery options and risks.
• Oversee contractual, financial, and risk management, ensuring full compliance with DFAT obligations and value for money.
• Lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary PSU team, managing resourcing, structure, and capability to respond to fluctuating demand.
• Ensure all program outputs, reporting, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems meet high-quality standards.
• Embed GEDSI, safeguarding, and ethical standards pragmatically across all program activities.

Requirements

• Graduate qualification in international development, public policy, international relations, leadership, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex, high-profile international development or government programs.
• Proven experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams in politically and operationally complex environments.
• Strong expertise in contract, financial, and risk management with full accountability for program performance.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with senior government or civil society leaders.
• Strong cultural awareness and understanding of Pacific contexts.
