Team Lead, Emerging Educational Technologies

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic integration and scaling of emerging educational technologies, including AI, to enhance teaching and learning.
• Work directly with faculty innovators to test and scale new applications, particularly those utilizing AI tooling.
• Serve as a liaison between faculty, the AI Kitchen, and Information Technology Services (ITS) to investigate integration opportunities.
• Act as the first point of contact for institutional requests related to emerging educational technologies.
• Prepare research briefings for senior leadership to inform educational technology strategy.
• Develop and recommend operational policies, procedures, and best practices for the program.
• Direct the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees.

Requirements

• Master's Degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience (PhD is an asset).
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in educational technology, learning design, or digital learning services in a higher education context.
• Extensive experience leading complex projects with multiple stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
• Experience supporting or delivering AI-related pilots, including prompt design or workflow evaluation.
• Proven ability to research emerging technologies and translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.
• Experience working directly with faculty or subject matter experts to design and scale teaching initiatives.
• Strong presentation and group facilitation skills for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 Suite and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with the University of Toronto’s teaching and learning context and Quercus (Canvas).
• Practical experience with agentic AI workflows and AI-enabled automation.
• Experience contributing to software procurement processes and vendor evaluation.
• Knowledge of Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) standards and Canvas APIs.
