About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop teaching materials for medical pharmacology content incorporating clinically relevant principles
  • Teach pharmacology and pharmacy skills labs using various pedagogies including case-based instruction, simulation, and team-based learning
  • Serve as a course director for integrated medical school pre-clinical courses and a coordinator for pharmacy school skills courses
  • Design and implement formative and summative assessment tools, such as NBME/NAPLEX-style questions
  • Collaborate with faculty across departments to implement curriculum, course schedules, and exams
  • Engage in educational scholarship and provide academic service on local and College-wide committees
  • Serve as a preceptor for student pharmacists and PGY1/PGY2 residents on academic rotations

Requirements

  • PharmD degree from an ACPE accredited College/School of Pharmacy
  • Evidence of Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist by the start date
  • Completion of a PGY1 residency or equivalent experience by the time of hire
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students and faculty
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • PGY2 pharmacy residency training
  • Experience developing integrated medical curricula that bridge basic and clinical sciences
  • Demonstrated history of effective teaching for graduate, medical, or pharmacy learners
  • Expertise in modern pedagogical approaches like Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Team-Based Learning (TBL)
  • Experience with technology-enhanced learning tools and digital assessments
  • A track record of scholarly contributions to medical and pharmacy education
