About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop teaching materials for medical pharmacology content incorporating clinically relevant principles
- Teach pharmacology and pharmacy skills labs using various pedagogies including case-based instruction, simulation, and team-based learning
- Serve as a course director for integrated medical school pre-clinical courses and a coordinator for pharmacy school skills courses
- Design and implement formative and summative assessment tools, such as NBME/NAPLEX-style questions
- Collaborate with faculty across departments to implement curriculum, course schedules, and exams
- Engage in educational scholarship and provide academic service on local and College-wide committees
- Serve as a preceptor for student pharmacists and PGY1/PGY2 residents on academic rotations
Requirements
- PharmD degree from an ACPE accredited College/School of Pharmacy
- Evidence of Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist by the start date
- Completion of a PGY1 residency or equivalent experience by the time of hire
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students and faculty
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Preferred Qualifications
- PGY2 pharmacy residency training
- Experience developing integrated medical curricula that bridge basic and clinical sciences
- Demonstrated history of effective teaching for graduate, medical, or pharmacy learners
- Expertise in modern pedagogical approaches like Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Team-Based Learning (TBL)
- Experience with technology-enhanced learning tools and digital assessments
- A track record of scholarly contributions to medical and pharmacy education
