Teaching Associate Professor - Biological Sciences

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and instruct four sections each semester of BIOL 1101H: Honors Foundations in Biological Inquiry as a scalable, semester-long Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE).
• Provide direct instruction in laboratory techniques, experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication for first- and second-year students.
• Mentor students through all stages of the research process, including hypothesis testing, experimental execution, and troubleshooting.
• Design and implement assessment strategies to evaluate student learning in scientific reasoning, quantitative literacy, and laboratory competency.
• Teach non-majors courses within the Marquette Core Curriculum, such as BIOL 1410 “Biology of Human Disease.”
• Work closely with graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants to support laboratory instruction and student mentoring.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related field.
• Nine years of college teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in undergraduate teaching.
• Experience in curriculum development or research-based laboratory instruction.
• Ability to develop a CURE grounded in scholarly interests using available teaching lab resources (e.g., invertebrate model organisms, microbiology, or molecular biology).
