Teaching Assistant with Literacy Specialism

Responsibilities

• Support students in their learning by establishing productive working relationships and providing feedback
• Support teachers by teaching groups of students, planning lessons, and administering/marking tests
• Deliver targeted small-group interventions in phonics and foundational literacy skills
• Support the curriculum by delivering learning activities in line with local and national learning strategies
• Select and prepare necessary resources to lead learning activities

Requirements

• Experience working with children of a relevant age
• Experience working with students with additional needs
• Experience delivering literacy and reading/writing recovery programmes
• Evidence of fulfilling Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards (or potential to do so within 6 months)
• Excellent numeracy and literacy skills (equivalent to at least NVQ Level 2)
• Relevant qualifications at A-level or equivalent (at least NQF Level 3)

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialist training in literacy or specific learning strategies
• Specialist skills such as bi-lingual abilities, sign language, or ICT qualifications
• Evidence of specialism in specific curriculum areas or learning difficulties
