About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support identified students in 1:1, group, or whole class situations to ensure safety and access to learning.
- Assist in developing resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs.
- Lead small group sessions and interventions as appropriate.
- Support behaviour management and attend to students' personal needs, including social, health, and welfare matters.
- Evaluate student progress and provide feedback on achievements and needs.
- Prepare classrooms for lessons, maintain resources, and assist with the display of student work.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers.
- Assist with student supervision during non-lesson times, such as playtimes and lunchtimes.
Requirements
- Degree level qualification or equivalent.
- Experience working directly with young people in an education or training environment.
- Knowledge of SEND, learning barriers, and strategies for working with challenging behaviours.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Good ICT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft packages.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and use own initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
