Teaching Assistant (Chemistry)

Responsibilities

• Manage and ensure the safety of all laboratory activities within the teaching lab
• Supervise lab experiments using guided-inquiry pedagogy to maintain an instructive environment
• Assist faculty instructors and the lab curator with various laboratory duties
• Facilitate pre-lab lectures and post-lab discussion sections
• Grade lab reports, tests, and homework, providing timely and constructive feedback via the LMS
• Proctor examinations and record student attendance
• Host office hours to provide tutoring and academic support to students
• Attend all pre-lab sessions, laboratory sessions, and required meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• 1-2 years of teaching assistant experience, preferably in higher education
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard)
• Experience with virtual lab simulations (e.g., Labster)
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Strong scientific communication, analytical, and critical problem-solving skills
