Teacher, Physical Education

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences and physical education lessons for adolescent students
• Develop, select, and differentiate instructional plans and materials to meet the diverse needs of all students
• Supervise middle school students in various school-related settings to ensure a safe learning environment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, staff, parents, and the community to support student success
• Maintain appropriate student records and use data analysis to monitor and improve student achievement
• Monitor the appropriate use and care of physical education equipment, materials, and facilities
• Participate in school meetings, programs, and activities outside of standard instructional hours as required

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or an applicable field from an accredited college or university
• Valid Maryland state teacher certification in the appropriate field of education
• Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent development and instructional strategies
• Strong communication and human relations skills
• Ability to implement effective behavioral management strategies appropriate for middle school students

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) curriculum and policies
• Proven ability to integrate technology and diverse learning styles into physical education instruction
• Experience working with diverse student populations including different ethnicities, genders, and learning exceptionalities
