About the role
Responsibilities
- Review and prepare fiduciary income tax returns (Forms 1041), estate tax returns (Form 706), and gift tax returns (Form 709)
- Advise clients and professional advisors on fiduciary income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters
- Research complex federal and state tax issues to develop practical planning recommendations
- Analyze legal documents like wills and trust agreements to identify tax implications
- Develop tax-efficient strategies for wealth transfer and post-mortem planning
- Coordinate with attorneys, wealth managers, and trustees to ensure successful outcomes
- Mentor and train staff by providing technical guidance and reviewing work product
- Support practice growth through business development and process improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- CPA license required or strongly preferred
- Minimum of five years of public accounting experience focused on fiduciary and transfer tax
- Expertise in trusts, estates, fiduciary accounting, and wealth transfer planning
- Knowledge of estate and trust administration and probate processes
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with tax software applications
