Tax Accountant III

Responsibilities

• Manage the preparation, review, and timely filing of multi-state sales and use tax returns
• Reconcile sales tax accounts monthly to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Research and interpret state and local tax laws to ensure compliance and identify savings opportunities
• Maintain exemption certificate records and respond to customer and auditor requests
• Partner with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Operations to ensure correct tax application
• Support sales tax audits by gathering documentation and preparing responses
• Continuously improve processes by leveraging tax automation tools such as Vertex or Avalara

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 3-5+ years of experience in accounting or sales tax
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, macros, and power query
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
• Familiarity with Vertex or Avalara tax automation tools
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Taxation
• CPA license
